As the battle between good and evil seems to grow more intense, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the negative changes we see in society. It is also tempting to blame our leaders and the media for the injustice we see in our nation, but the Bible tells us that our struggle is “not with flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)
This passage in Ephesians 6 indicates that as Christians, we are to be pro-active, not passive. First, it says to put on the full armor of God. Next, we are to “do everything,” and once we have done everything, we are to stand, praying in the Spirit on every occasion and with every form of prayer. (See Ephesians 6:10-19)
The culture war in our nation seems to be most predominant in the abortion debate. After all, no other issue stirs more controversy than this one. At Bella, we believe in the biblical teaching for the Sanctity of Human Life (SOHL) that says that all human life, which includes the unborn, is known by God and valuable to Him.
So what is the “everything” God has called us to do in order to uphold the SOHL principle? All that we can to make it possible for a woman in an unplanned pregnancy to carry to term. We do this by offering emotional support, accurate and adequate information, practical help, and spiritual guidance. Our services are always offered free of charge, and they are always provided in a very loving, gentle, and kind manner – never with judgment or harshness.
Once we have done all we can to speak truth and provide practical help to relieve some of the pressures the woman feels, we stand in prayer on behalf of the woman and her child. Because of our biblical approach, 80-90% of the abortion vulnerable women who come to Bella choose life for their babies.
The Dessert Gala provides a unique opportunity to share the mission and vision of Bella with others, asking them to become partners with us through financial support and volunteerism. When you partner with Bella as an underwriter or table sponsor for this event, you are taking a “Stand 4 Life” by helping us empower women in unplanned pregnancies with everything they need to make decisions for life.
Underwriters stand as the foundation of the fundraising process for the entire Dessert Gala. Their support provides assurance to those who attend the Gala that 100% of their pledges and donations will go directly to Bella’s mission. This type of assurance encourages far more generous giving at the Gala, which means that the underwriter’s investment in Bella Pregnancy Resource Center will be multiplied several times over.
Benefits of Sponsorship: Your name or logo will appear on the Dessert Gala promotional and event materials; your banner will be displayed at the Dessert Gala; you will receive an appreciation certificate; your name or logo will be noted in the newspaper following the event; you will receive VIP seating at the Dessert Gala; and your sponsorship gift is tax-deductible. However, the greatest benefit of sponsorship will be in the number of lives that will be impacted in the coming year as a result of your partnership with Bella.
Sponsorship Gift Levels:
Diamond: $10,000 or more
Table sponsors are the heart of the Dessert Gala. They are businesses and individuals that partner with Bella to educate and impact not only the lives of Bella’s clients, but the lives of people they want to bless within the Northern Hills community.
Table sponsorship is just $320, which provides the table sponsor with tickets for eight for the Dessert Gala. Table sponsors invite people they know to join them at the Dessert Gala as their guests, so they can introduce them to the life-affirming ministry of Bella. The semi-formal event includes dinner, gourmet dessert, inspirational message, information about Bella’s ministry, a testimonial from one of Bella’s very own clients, and an opportunity for attendees to make a financial contribution to Bella.
Benefits of Sponsoring a Table: As a table sponsor, your sponsorship will be acknowledged in the Dessert Gala program, the power-point presentation, and on your table.

Pastor Herb Lusk – Special Guest Speaker
Bella is pleased to announce that we have rescheduled Pastor Herb Lusk as our keynote speaker for the Dessert Gala. You may remember that he was unable to make our event last year due to weather problems on the East Coast.
Pastor Lusk is the Senior Pastor at the Greater Exodus Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He is also a former running back for the Philadelphia Eagles but left this position to commit to the service of those in poverty including the jobless, the homeless, the hungry, and those in prison and their children.
Pastor Lusk founded People for People in 1989 which focuses on community development and revitalization programs in the Philadelphia area.
Pastor Lusk also founded Stand for Africa in 2003 to raise awareness about African AIDS orphans and their families. This program currently funds stable, reliable initiatives in seven countries on the African continent. Due to his tireless efforts in this area, Pastor Lusk received a Presidential appointment to the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS. He has also hosted Presidents of the United States twice at People for People in the last decade.
Pastor Lusk has been featured on many national news broadcasts and has received countless awards, honors and citations. In 2005, Philadelphia Magazine named Pastor Lusk as one of Philadelphia’s 50 most influential leaders.
