Bella’s annual Gala for Life (formerly called the Dessert Gala) is quickly approaching! This year the Gala will take place on Thursday, October 16th, 6:30-8:30 PM, at the Spearfish Holiday Inn Convention Center and highlight “Everyday Heroes,” i.e. regular people doing amazing things for life!
Along with a delicious banquet, the Gala for Life will include an update on Bella, testimonies from Bella’s clients and volunteers, and a keynote address from the national President of Students for Life of America, Kristan Hawkins!

Gala for Life Goals
Bella’s goal for the Gala for Life is to have 40 sponsored tables with 33% of the guests attending for the first time. Our financial goal is to raise $60,000 for the on-going needs of Bella through this important fundraising event.
Guest Speaker Kristan Hawkins
Bella is pleased to announce that we have scheduled Kristan Hawkins, the President of Students for Life of America (SFLA), as our keynote speaker. Since launching SFLA’s full-time operation in 2006, Kristan has helped to more than triple the number of campus pro-life groups in the United States, from 181 to almost 800 in 49 states. As President, Kristan directs the mission and strategy of Students for Life of America. In addition, Kristan serves as the organization’s official spokeswoman and has appeared on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, EWTN, Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, and the Christian Broadcasting Network. She is a frequent blogger for LifeNews.com and Townhall.com and her work and passion for the unborn have been featured in numerous publications, most recently in National Review Online, the Washington Times and Citizen Magazine. In 2013, she authored SFLA’s first book Courageous: Students Abolishing Abortion in this Lifetime.
Kristan’s pro-life mission began when she was asked to volunteer at a Pregnancy Resource Center during her sophomore year of high school. After spending several months counseling abortion-vulnerable women, Kristan started the first pro-life group at her high school and eventually was asked to be the West Virginia Teens for Life President. Kristan attended Bethany College in West Virginia where she started the first pro-life group on her campus and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science.
Before coming to SFLA, Kristan served as a political appointee in the George W. Bush administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Since working at SFLA, Kristan has been awarded the Susan B. Anthony Young Leader Award, the Dr. William Hogan Education Award for pro-life leadership, the 2009 Weyrich Youth Leadership Award, and a 2010 Life Prize Award.
Kristan resides in St. Paul, Minnesota with her husband, Jonathan, and 3 sons, Gunner, Bear, and Maverick.
