Stewardship Opportunities for 2015-2016

It’s time to look at closing out the year here at Bella…and what a year it’s been. We’ve served 104 women and families with 555 appointments. Of those at risk for abortion, we know that at least 94% chose to carry to term.

None of this would have been possible if not for the very generous donors. So to each and every individual, family, church, business and group that has given to Bella this past year, thank you for your prayers, help, and support! Your partnership has meant the world to us and to the clients we serve!

Along with serving clients, some highlights of the year include: strategic planning, three fundraising events, hiring a new nurse, receiving the gift of a new 3D ultrasound machine, an open house and dedication ceremony, and a Volunteer Training Seminar.

With the many wonderful blessings, the year has also brought two new challenges:

  1. Our primary nurse sonographer is stepping down from Bella to complete her degree in midwifery.
  2. Income from our fundraising events was down by over $20,000 this year.

In order to finish the year well, we could use your help and prayers in two ways.

First, although we have already hired one new nurse, we are really in need of two new nurses. Our newest nurse, Sherry, is only able to give us two days a week and with Chelsea leaving, we need an additional nurse to cover the other two days that we are open so we do not miss any at-risk clients. We have someone who is interested, but this means we will need to train two nurses in sonography.

Cost of sonography training is approximately $7,500 per nurse. We had budgeted to train one nurse but with our fundraising income down for the year, it has become necessary to find a way to raise the funds to cover these costs. And of course, we did not budget to cover training for the second nurse.

Second, we could use your help in paying down our mortgage. Several years ago the Lord laid it on the hearts of our board of directors to pay off our mortgage and so we kicked off a mortgage pay-down project last year, with a long-term goal of having the mortgage paid off within three to five years.

We had a very generous response last year, raising $24,200, which was immediately applied to the principal of the mortgage. This amount, along with our regular monthly payments, brought the amount owed on the mortgage down from $110,000 to $74,200.

Even though it has become necessary to raise $15,000 to train two new nurses in sonography, we believe the Lord wants us to also stay the course and continue to pay down our mortgage, which once done will free up almost $1,200 per month that can be applied directly to client services. Paying off the mortgage early will also save us close to $50,000 in interest over the next thirteen years.

Wow! Just think of what could be accomplished with these funds! Many more women and babies could be saved from abortion!

Would you prayerfully consider giving a special end-of-the-year gift to apply to the nurses’ training and/or the mortgage? If just 90 people were to give $1,000, we could provide both nurses with training and enter the New Year debt free!! However, please know that gifts in any amount would be a tremendous blessing to the ministry!!

Once again, thank you so much for your partnership over the years, and thank you in advance for whatever the Lord places on your heart to do for Bella at this time. From our hearts to yours, we wish you a Blessed Christmas season!
